Testing Information

Tests Offered at SSHS:

  • PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is offered once a year between October 2-October 31st on Santa Susana’s campus.
    • More information about registration through Total Registration is shared prior to the test date via email and through our weekly newsletter. Registration typically opens early to mid-September.
    • If you take this test as a junior, you become eligible for the National Merit Scholarship program.  This test is recommended for 10th & 11th grade students, but it is also available to 9th grade students.
    • In order to take the test, students must have a College Board Account that matches their Total Registration account, and download the Bluebook App directly to their school-issued device. This information is shared directly with families who register for the test.
  • ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Career Exploration Test) is offered one day in the Fall and one day in the Spring during the school day. The test is open to 10th-12th grade students, completely free, and does not require a military commitment.
    • More information about registration through the CCC is shared prior to the test date via email and through our weekly newsletter.
  • Advanced Placement Tests (AP) are offered during the first two weeks of May. Click the link for more information on how to register and pay for tests.

Tests NOT Offered at SSHS:

The following tests are offered numerous times throughout the school year on outside campuses and can be taken multiple times.

Suggestion: Take a practice test for BOTH the ACT and SAT. Based on how you do, prepare only for the test you scored higher on and felt more comfortable with. There is no reason to continue preparing for both tests, unless you choose to do so.

Keep in Mind: UCs and CSUs will no longer consider SAT or ACT test scores when making admissions decisions or awarding scholarships. If you choose to submit test scores as part of your application, they may be used for course placement following enrollment only. Contact out-of-state or private schools directly for their testing requirements.
